Abstract

Artificial Intelligence has proven to be revolutionary in the field of technology despite its limited existence. The relatively new technology has the potential to transform the ways that virtually every sector conducts business throughout their day-to-day operations. The purpose of this study is to judge whether artificial intelligence will have a positive or negative effect on the US job market in terms of job statistics. This study will analyze the projections for jobs added and subtracted across multiple industries and sectors (not just the financial sector). The data that this study utilizes is derived from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is a branch of the US Government Department of Labor. This research paper will analyze the top four sectors in terms of jobs added as well as the bottom four sectors in the same category. This will give the complete picture of the effect AI will have on the US job market over the next decade. The findings of this study will serve as a great tool for university students deciding their future career path as well as employers planning for the near future. The findings will also benefit current workforce professionals who aren’t sure how their current employment sector will fair in the coming years.
