African American property change in Fredericksburg over the 20th century

Abstract

Over the last two semesters I have been working with Dr. Moon, Dr. Henry, and Dr. Hanna to map racially restricted covenants in the City of Fredericksburg. As an off shot of this, it was found that there were multiple segregated tax maps in the Fredericksburg City Courthouse Archives which allowed us to map black owned properties for various periods in the 20th century. As a result, I am working with Dr. Hanna as part of my GIS capstone to map Black property ownership change between the years of 1930 to 1964 and 1964 to 1990.
